Precise Control for Complex Processes
Our Ammonium Citrates combine high solubility, effective metal chelation, and reliable buffering capacity, making it ideal for stabilizing formulations and regulating complex chemical environments. They support controlled pH, prevent precipitation, and enable even metal ion distribution in processes ranging from synthesis and surface treatment to coatings and crop care, among other. Thanks to their ability to form stable metal complexes and function as precursors in catalytic systems, Lohtragon® Ammonium Citrates contribute to process efficiency, and cross-application compatibility – manufactured to the highest quality standards in Germany.
Ammonium Citrate is an inorganic salt with the formula C6H17N3O7. It consists of ammonium cations (NH4+) and the citrate anion (C6H5O73-).
In its pure form, it appears as a white to slightly yellow, hygroscopic crystalline solid. The compound is highly soluble in water and has no distinct odor.

Interested in Ammonium Citrates for your application? Looking for a specific grade or regulatory support?
Our technical experts are here to help with:
Ammonium Citrate is the ammonium salt of citric acid (C₆H₁₇N₃O₇). It appears as a white to slightly yellow, hygroscopic crystalline solid, is highly soluble in water, and typically functions as a buffer, chelating agent, and catalyst precursor.
They are produced at our manufacturing facilities in Germany.
Pure Ammonium Citrate has no distinct odor. At elevated temperatures, decomposition can release ammonia or citric acid vapors.
Solid forms like powders or crystals are easier to store, transport with lower weight, and allow flexible preparation of different solution concentrations. Solutions, on the other hand, are ready-to-use, enable precise dosing, reduce dust exposure, and can be much more practical in continuous or large-scale processes depending on the customer’s setup.
Certain grades of Ammonium Citrate can meet food-contact requirements. Our experts advise on regulatory compliance for packaging or food-related uses.
