    Properties of Magnesium Acetate

    Magnesium Acetate is an inorganic salt with the formula Mg(CH3COO)2, commonly encountered as the tetrahydrate Mg(CH3COO)2·4H2O. It consists of magnesium cations (Mg2+) and acetate anions (CH3COO-). In its pure form, it appears as a white crystalline solid that is strongly hygroscopic. The compound is readily soluble in water and is essentially odorless in its dry state, though when moist it may release a faint acetic acid smell.
